Mooir Vannin Offshore Wind Farm planning application accepted for examination by Isle of Man Government
Located in an area of seabed awarded by the Isle of Man Government in 2015 which is 6 to 12 nautical miles off the east coast, the planned Mooir Vannin Offshore Wind Farm has the potential to contribute to the Island’s net-zero, economic and energy security ambitions.
The planning application has been submitted under the Isle of Man’s Marine Infrastructure Management Act (MIMA). The next stage of the planning process will include a public consultation by the Isle of Man Government ahead of the Council of Ministers appointing examiners to assess the application on their behalf later this year.
Jamie Baldwin, Ørsted’s Mooir Vannin Offshore Wind Farm Director, commented: “This is a significant step in the planning process and we’re delighted to reach this important milestone. It follows on from our 2024 Community Consultation and the publication of the Community Consultation Summary Report in January 2025. Following careful consideration of the comments we received from last summer’s consultation, and after speaking to many other stakeholders, the feedback we gathered allowed us to refine and adapt the proposals put forward in the planning application.”
