Building opportunities for Manx businesses

At Ørsted, we are proud of the strong relationships we build with local suppliers in the regions where we develop our offshore wind projects. We are committed to creating lasting economic and social value for local communities and strengthening domestic supply chains.

We have committed to establishing an Operations & Maintenance base on the Isle of Man and are already actively working with many local Manx suppliers. These include legal, financial, tax, media, and communications services, as well as making full use of the Island’s hospitality and transport sectors through our regularly visiting teams. We will continue to explore further opportunities for local companies to contribute to the project.

In mature markets such as the UK, we work closely with domestic suppliers. For example, over the past five years, Ørsted has awarded major contracts to more than 255 UK-based suppliers, with many hundreds more supported indirectly to help build and maintain our offshore wind farms. Nearly 73 of these UK suppliers have supported our global portfolio from the US to Taiwan.

At this stage of the Mooir Vannin Offshore Wind Farm project, our focus is on early engagement to build understanding across the offshore wind project lifecycle, while mapping Manx supply chain capabilities and how they may align with future requirements. We are always keen to learn more about local expertise and the ambitions of the Manx supply chain.

AMS Trenchless

Since winning their first offshore wind contract with Ørsted back in 2017, horizontal directional drilling specialists AMS Trenchless have completely transformed their business. The highly specialised drilling company has expanded its expertise, grown its workforce, and is proud of its role in the local green energy transition.

BGB Scaffolding Ltd

North Wales based BGB Scaffolding Ltd are specialists in marine and offshore scaffolding and access solutions for the global offshore wind sector. Access solutions include Scaffolding, Rope Access and Drone Surveys, furthermore BGB provide QHSE, Crane Operators, Loler Inspectors and Site Support Technicians.

BGB have been working alongside Ørsted since 2017 and continue to do so across their global portfolio supporting both construction and operational phases of projects.

Hobson & Porter

Hull-based firm Hobson & Porter have supported Ørsted since 2014 when they were contracted to build the Westermost Rough Operations & Maintenance base at Grimsby Royal Docks. Since then, Ørsted has expanded its footprint in the Humber region to support all our East Coast projects. Hobson & Porter has helped us to do this by undertaking the construction work of the East Coast Hub, the world’s largest offshore wind operation and maintenance hub based in Grimsby.
