A community update postcard with news from Ørsted about its Mooir Vannin Offshore Wind Farm project will be delivered to all households across the Island next week [w/c January 27th].

The postcard will give an update about last summer’s community consultation regarding the proposals to build the Island’s first offshore wind farm. The consultation was held between July and September and offered residents a chance to find out more about the Mooir Vannin wind farm project, give feedback on the proposals, and discuss the benefits and challenges with the project team at five public events held across the Island.

John Galloway, Ørsted Development Director for the Isle of Man, said: “We’re very grateful to everyone who shared their valuable insights with us on our design proposals for the Isle of Man’s first offshore wind farm, Mooir Vannin. Since September the team at Ørsted have been carefully considering all of the comments we received and speaking to many other stakeholders. All of this feedback has allowed us to refine and adapt the proposals before we submit a planning application to the Isle of Man Government in Spring 2025. The community update postcard being distributed next week includes a link to our website www.orsted.im where people can view our Community Consultation Summary Report. The report gives a summary of the community consultation, the feedback we received, and how our plans for the offshore wind farm have been adjusted.”

Ørsted is one of the world's most sustainable energy companies. It is a major player in the UK’s green energy strategy where it currently operates 12 offshore wind farms, with more in the pipeline. In the North Sea, Hornsea 1 and 2 are operational and plans are on track for Hornsea 3 and 4. When Hornsea 3 is completed it will increase the wind farm’s total capacity to make Hornsea the world’s largest offshore wind zone and providing electricity to around 5 million homes.
